Going home faster with CLD
Scientific evaluation of criteria-led discharges (CLD)
In collaboration with the inpatient ward at the Children’s Hospital of Central Switzerland, criteria-led discharges (CLD or KIBA in German) were introduced at the Children’s Hospital of Central Switzerland in 2024. For children who have a specific diagnosis, such as certain respiratory infections, and who qualify for CLD, the discharge procedure has been adapted and is implemented by the responsible nursing staff on site.
This means that children and their families can be discharged home more quickly and just as safely, avoiding unnecessary waiting times.
Mirjam Kissling, a doctoral student at the CCHA, provided scientific support for the introduction of CLD and will publish her doctoral thesis on the subject shortly. In addition, an e-learning program was created specifically for training at the Children’s Hospital, along with comprehensive information material for parents and professionals.
The CCHA supported this project in the areas of data analysis, data validation, and the creation of the publication.
